This class is designed with the beginner in mind. We will choose a subject, which the class will vote on. Ken will walk you through creating a colored pencil drawing from start to finish. You will learn about different techniques including shading, highlighting, blending and more. Get started on the path to success with Master Artist Ken Ottinger. He has taught all levels of classes for over 30 years and has helped many people, just like you, guide you through the process. Class is scheduled to begin August 1, 2017.

Class Overview

Learn to draw using colored pencil with lessons from award-winning master asrtist Ken Ottinger. Set yourself up to succeed as you learn about the best drawing surfaces, supplies and techniques. In this class Ken walks you through creating the subject matter. Ken will help you understand techniques that will have you drawing like a pro in no time. 

Ken will teach you how to draw life-like detail with layers of color, realistic sparkle and depth. He will show you how to blend colors so you can accurately portray your subject. You will receive plenty of guidance in texture, color patterns, shading and highlighting. Ken will teach you some of the basics like paper and pencil options along with how to choose your reference photo.

Ken's professional art career has spanned over 30 years beginning with his graduation from the prestigious Art Center College of Design. He finds fulfillment in the mastery of several art forms, not wanting to be constrained be any single method of artistic expression. Ken has the rare ability to bring a quality to his work that sets him apart. His art has "soul" or "spirit" and is the embodiment of the essence of his subject.

Ken has been creating art in colored pencils for over 40 years and he loves to draw all types of subject matter. His award-winnning work has been exhibited and featired in a variety of books and publications, both nationally and internationally.

 

Ken enjoys teaching his workshops online and locally in Prescott, Arizona.
